Who’s Who?

 

Building a custom home is an exciting process, but there’s no doubt that it is an extremely detail-oriented process as well.  The stages of construction, from design to completion, consist of many steps - all of which take place in a carefully planned sequence.  This is why building your new home takes a team of trained professionals to turn your dreams into a reality.

These individuals work closely with you, as well as each other, in order to guide you along each step of the way.  That’s why it is important for you to get acquainted with the people who will build your home.  So, without further ado, allow us to introduce you!

 

Meet Scott, President/Owner

While the company was originally founded by his grandparents in 1968, it is only in its 2nd generation of ownership with Scott as President / Owner.  He began running the company in 2007 following his graduation from the University of Akron with a degree in Business Administration.  However, he had started working for the business at a much younger age.  His years of field experience prior to running the company have proved invaluable.

Scott’s job as a general contractor is to oversee the project from inception to completion.  He is responsible for estimating the cost of construction, establishing a timeline for the project, overseeing the day-to-day operations, and communicating information to all involved parties.
Scott feels that it is extremely important to maintain direct contact with the homeowners throughout the entire building process to ensure that their expectations are being met.  His hand-on approach has proved to be very successful, not only earning him respect among his clients but also his fellow peers in the industry.  They voted him “Builder of the Year” for Summit / Portage Counties in 2012 as well as 2013.  It was a proud moment for Scott, indeed, as that was the first time in HBA history that a builder had received the award back-to-back years.  Scott has served on the local Home Builders Associations Board of Trustees for several years, and as its President in 2014.

 

Meet Matt, Project Manager

Matt, a former Marine, spent his early adulthood as a sheriff’s deputy.  He had, however, attended school for architecture which ultimately led him back to a career in the construction industry.  Matt joined the HSCB team as a Project Manager in 2008.

He exhibits a strong work ethic, excellent client relations, and is a crucial part of the team.  He oversees the sub-contractors and the rest of our team, in addition to scheduling and coordinating various aspects of the construction process.  Matt’s position as Project Manager is focused on maximizing efficiency and productivity for everyone involved in the project.

 

Meet Omy, Selections Coordinator

With the overwhelming number of choices in today’s building process, we felt it necessary to have someone available to assist you in making the decisions that will fulfill your visions for your new home.  Omy’s position as Selections Coordinator is to guide you through the selection process, not only at the initial stages but throughout the duration of construction.  Her goal is to ensure that you have an informed and enjoyable experience, while also making sure that your selections are being made in line with your budget and construction deadlines.

 

 

Meet Dean, Master Carpenter

Dean has long been recognized as a Master Carpenter having over 35 years of experience in his trade.  He has been employed with Helen Scott Custom Builders, Inc. since 1981.  His attention to detail and superior craftsmanship are unparalleled.  His custom cabinetry – often built on-site – is very popular among our clients.  However, you can also find him around the job-sites using his wood-working expertise in a variety of other construction related tasks.  There is no question that his portfolio of work truly defines him as a “master” in the field of carpentry.

 

Meet Paul, Carpenter

Paul may be one of the newer members to our team, but he brings over 18 years of experience in the building industry with him.  He assists Dean in all things finish carpentry related and has been a valuable addition.

 

Meet Jason & Johnny, Tradesmen

Quite literally, these two tradesmen are the “jack-of-all-trades”.  They have a combined 30 years of experience in residential construction and remodeling, both working in the industry since high school.  Their primary focus is on carpentry and tile work, but they are involved in many phases of construction.

 

Meet Randy, Field Assistant

Randy is everyone’s right-hand man (and Scott’s dad!).  He is an essential member of the team.  You may see him in passing delivering tools and materials to the jobs, or keeping the sites clean and free of debris.  He assists the team with any essential or immediate needs in the day-to-day undertakings.


 

Not pictured above is our team of sub-contractors / suppliers.  Many of them have been associated with our company for over 25 years, and several are of them are also in their 2nd generation of ownership.  They average 15 years with us, which is known to be very rare in this industry. 

We cherish the long-lasting relationships that we have established with our team of sub-contractors on both a personal and professional level.  The longevity of these relationships helps make projects flow more smoothly as each sub-contractor knows what the others expect, which in turn helps guarantee that you get a consistent product.
