As we inch closer to another new year, we have often found ourselves reflecting back on 2013. The past year has left little doubt in our minds that the housing market is continuing to show consistent improvement. Our team, personally, can attest to a steady increase in new home sales. Congratulations are in order again for Helen Scott Custom Builders! The local HBA held its 70th annual inauguration banquet on December 7, 2013. Scott Strayer, President of Helen Scott Custom Builders, was installed as the association's 2014 President. Earlier in the evening, Strayer, along with partner, Dean Scarborough, and VP of Operations, Matt Meyer, proudly accepted the coveted 2013 "Builder of the Year" award. Helen Scott Custom Builders Named HBA's 2012 "Builder of the Year"

Scott Strayer (right), of Helen Scott Custom Builders, won the HBA “Builder of the Year” Award for 2012 as voted on by members of the Home Builders Association (HBA) Serving Portage & Summit Counties.

This award has been given annually since 1971. Each of the HBA’s 450 member companies can nominate their choice for builder of the year. The five builders receiving the most nominations are included on a ballot and ranked by their peers to determine the winner.

The award recognizes a builder who has demonstrated a high level of customer satisfaction and strong business practices as related to his or her trade and supplier relations.
